DIY brides, where do you start? How do you get the DIY wedding of your dreams? Here’s some top tips…
We all know that to have the perfect wedding costs money. If you want someone else to supply certain aspects of your day then it won’t come for free.
However, there are ways to keep costs down by doing things yourself. Are you planning to DIY your wedding day? Click To Tweet
If you’re an arty kind of person this will be an obvious choice anyway, but even if you’re not, it can still be done. And it doesn’t need to be as scary as you might think…
Here’s my top 5 tips for saving some cash and creating your dream DIY wedding
Pick your scheme
What type of wedding are you planning? Rustic, traditional, lots of bling? Once you know this, you’ll know what type of things you’d like at your wedding and what can be done by you.
Shop in places like Home Bargains, The Range, B&M etc.
These places have lots of little gems that would fit perfectly into your scheme whatever that may be (and at half the price!)
Take your time
When you sit down to do some crafts, take your time. Rushing it will only make it look messy and half hearted. Take the extra few minutes to get it perfect.
Do you need it?
As lovely as it is to think of everything, there’s lots of trends around at the moment that I feel are un-necessary. Making your own confetti…supplying comfy shoes for your evening guests…It’s a lovely idea, but do you really need it?
Make sure you know what you want before you go looking
The whole point of doing it by yourself is to keep costs down, so if you go to the local craft store with no clue what you want, you’re probably going to end up spending more than you planned.
I hope these tips help! It’s so lovely to have handmade items at your wedding. It’s so personal and theres also a sense of satisfaction when people are complimenting your handy work.
