Beauty Q&A with Glamorama Make-Up
As Beauty Expert here at The Liverpool Wedding Blog, I am really looking forward to advising brides to be about all things beauty related! Here is my first (of hopefully many!) Q & A posts.
Q: I am having a summer wedding, and I sometimes suffer with hay fever and itchy, watery eyes. What can you recommend in regards to making my eye make-up stay in place all day? – Steph, Huyton
A: I also suffer with hay fever and itchy eyes, so I can totally relate to this question! I would say that if you can, start taking a daily antihistamine. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to choose the best one for you. Prevention is key! On your wedding morning, apply cold tea bags (ones that have been brewed and the left to cool in the fridge for half an hour) to your eyes a a compress for 15-20 minutes. The coolness will soothe and the caffeine will reduce any puffiness. Have some eye drops on hand as well in case of any redness.
As far as your eye make-up goes, I have some key products in my kit that keep any bride’s eye make-up perfect all day. One of my kit must-haves is Urban Decay Primer Potion (£17, Urbandecay.co.uk). It comes in a neutral shade, or several different colours and formulations. I apply a thin coat on the lid and bottom lash line before eye make-up. It gives a perfect base and locks the eye shadow onto the skin. It has never let me or my brides down! I have witnessed tears on many wedding mornings, and the eye make-up has stayed flawless.

If you wear eye liner, I highly recommend another favourite of mine, Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner in Infinity (£20, Illamasqua.com). It is absolutely waterproof, smudge proof, and smear proof. But it removes easily with eye make-up remover or micellar water. If you prefer a pencil, Zoeva Graphic Eyes pencils (£7, BeautyBay.com) which have beautiful rich shades that are literally bulletproof. My fave is ‘Rock n Roll Bride’, a deep brown with a hint of bronze glitter. It is super pretty on brides!
Of course, waterproof mascara is an absolute must for every bride. Too Faced Better than Sex Waterproof Mascara (£19, Debenhams.com) consistently comes out on top! It gives volume, length, and lift. And it just will not run, no matter how much your eyes stream. Also, the name will make you have a little giggle on your wedding morning!
You may or may not decide to wear false lashes. If you are prone to eye irritation, I would not recommend having individual weekend lashes or semi-permanent eye lash extensions applied. It wouldn’t be worth the risk of having terribly itchy and possibly puffy eyes on the day. If you go for strip lashes, Revlon Precision Clear Lash Glue (£4.99, Amazon.co.uk) is latex free and waterproof. It is easy to remove even though it is an excellent lash adhesive.
I hope my tips have been useful! Hope you have an amazing wedding day with beautiful bright eyes!
