Your wedding budget isn’t always something you want to share but lots of brides to be often want to compare other peoples to their own.
As part of my job I have to keep up to date with social media and one of the main focal points is bridal forums. They are drowning with brides (and grooms) wanting to discuss their weddings, find bargains and obtain hints and tips. This is a great platform for suppliers to advertise their business, be recommended but also give useful tips and advice.
One thing I have noticed that frequently pops up on these forums is brides asking how much everyone else is spending on their weddings!
I find this an unfair question for two reasons…
- These forums are open to anyone, no matter where you are in the world. But, being a northern girl, I know the total cost of a wedding up north would be substantially different to a wedding down south, so the question between a northern and southern couple would be completely irrelevant.
- Everybody has their own views on how they’d like their wedding. Some people like to go all out and have the big princess wedding they’ve always dreamed of, and others may want a quiet inmate, low key affair.
In my opinion, it shouldn’t matter what you spend on your wedding day. It’s about two people sharing their love for one another and committing to each other in front of their loved ones.Would you share your wedding budget with others? #theliverpoolweddingblog Click To Tweet
As long as you’re happy with your plans and you’re having the day you dreamed of, don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. It’s nice to discuss your plans and share ideas, but the financial aspect is personal to each couple.
Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing!
So use the forums as a place to ask advice, speak to other brides and share stories but don’t compare your budget to the next bride…it’s not a competition!
