Being from and living in Liverpool, it was important for me to get married here. My husband is from the other end of the country so half the people on our guest list were travelling a very long way, we even had friends who came from other countries just to celebrate with us! When you have guests who aren’t local, there are a few things they’ll need to know…
Make life easy for your guests and let them know options for near by accommodation or if you’re getting married in a hotel, reserve a block of rooms so guests can easily book. We included a little card with our invitations for out of town guests which listed the contact details of hotels within a few minutes walk from our venue.
If your ceremony venue and reception venue are far away from each other, it might be a good idea to arrange a coach or bus to transport your guests – making it simple for them if they don’t know their way around the area. If you’re guests are visiting Liverpool for the first time, they may want to stay a few extra days and make the most of it. You could always give them a list of must see attractions or top restaurants so they get the whole Liverpool experience.
Sometimes guests will have extra questions, get taken the wrong way by their sat-nav or get a bit lost in the city. You won’t want to be juggling phone calls and texts in the days leading up to the wedding so give guests a list of emergency contact numbers for them to call if they really need to – a best man, bridesmaid or trusted friend are good options.
