Beat the Heat! Our top tips to stop you melting on your wedding day
How do you cope with the heat at your summer wedding?
We are having a heatwave in Liverpool this week! It got me thinking of the lovely couples who are getting married at the moment, and what sort of advice we at the blog can bestow upon them to help them stay cool.
Becky, our Stationery Expert from Hartiescraft, recommends, “Top tip, rinse your hands under freezing cold water and leave to dry naturally it reduces sweating as it cools your pulse points down.”
Lucy, our Photography Expert from Lucy Hannah Photography, says, “Make sure you drink a glass of cold water between each glass of bubbly to stay hydrated.”
Carol, our Bridal Wear Expert from Bridal Reloved Liverpool, adds, “Depending on the style of dress, try wearing a hoop underneath to allow the air to circulate and not allow the material to stick to you! Also, keep one of those little hand held battery fans in with your bridesmaids for an instant cool down when needed! And get in to your dress as late as possible so you’re not building up a heat before you go!”
Vicky, our Beauty Expert from Glamorama Makeup, suggests, “Be sure to use a make-up setting spray at the end of your make-up application to keep your make-up from melting off during the day. Blotting papers are essential for eliminating shine from the face, avoid powder as it can look cakey if you are sweating at all.”

We also asked some of our Liverpool wedding suppliers from the WPGUK Suppliers Group for some of their best tips.
Claire Denise from Sister Sister Bouquets recommends, “Try several different deodorants before the big day to find which one works best for you. And wear your hair up!”
Simon Hughes, a close up magician, has a great tip for men, “For guests choosing a suit wear a three piece, you can have the jacket on for when you need to be smart but then jump to the rolled up sleeves and waistcoat look.”
Yvonne Hensen Bennett from the Wedding Planners Guild UK says, “You can buy cooling sprays from Home Bargains and there is also a small cooling roll on which you can apply to wrists and temples.”
Amy Victoria from Event Styling by Amy Victoria offers this great advice, “Take sun cream (or ask someone to take it for you if your the bride/part of the bridal party). It was a surprisingly hot day for my sisters wedding day and we all got brunt shoulders during the line up, which was outside! Not comfortable for when you have to wear a big dress all day. Really makes you even more hot and bothered!”
Alex Bower, Wedding Coordinator at Titanic Hotel Liverpool suggests, “Make sure your venue puts out plenty of iced water and glasses for you and your guests to keep refreshed. It’s normal for venues to do it, but always double check they are on the reception and the tables!”
Thank you to all of the suppliers who helped us with their ideas! If you are getting married during the height of summer, or even somewhere abroad, we hope these tips help you make it through the day without melting.
Enjoy the sunshine!
