Photography Q&A: Should I meet with a photographer before I book them?
Booking a photographer is a big decision, do you need to meet with them before you book?
Our photography expert Lucy is here to give you her thoughts…
Q: Should I meet with a photographer before I book them?
A: Yes! It’s so important to meet your photographer before you go ahead with your booking. You need to love the photographs they take, but, it’s also important that you get on with them. On the wedding day you’ll probably be spending a lot of time with your wedding photographer so you need to make sure they are someone who you feel comfortable with, and someone who you feel you can trust.

I always suggest meeting up for a coffee when a couple are interested in my wedding photography. You can have a good chat about your wedding plans and see if you’re a good fit for each other. You’ll also get a chance to see examples of albums and other printed products they might include in their packages. It’s good to know that they have options for albums that you like. Sometimes the perfect photographer for you isn’t local, and that shouldn’t be a problem. Most photographers will offer to ‘meet’ you over Skype if you can’t meet them locally.
During both in person and Skype meetings I love to hear about your wedding plans so far! I give my couples an overview of what it’s like to work with me, show examples of the different products, show them full wedding galleries, talk them through the different options and next steps as well as answering any questions they might have. I’ve been a bride myself so I’m always happy to share any wedding planning tips you might need. To see more of my photography or for more info visit www.lucyhannahphotography.co.uk
